Add Pictures (photos) to the material library to show customers your product. Pictures stored in PlantX.net are shown on your website and can be recalled later for use in printed materials such as catalogs, plant tags and brochures.

Every time PlantX.net uses a picture on the website or other use, it starts with the original and applies any adjustments before finally displaying it.

Make a copy of the stored original picture.
Rotate the picture as needed.
Crop the picture, either as a thumbnail or full view.
Add the company brand to show ownership of the picture.
Add a watermark graphic to further clarify ownership.
Shrink (or grow) the picture to the needed size.
Transfer to web server or other use.

With this approach to managing pictures, PlantX.net can prepare and use them throughout the system.

Upload Original Pictures

PlantX.net stores the pictures that you upload in their exact format. PlantX.net never modifies the original picture. Of course, pictures that you take with a digital camera are never ready to be shown to your customers, so PlantX.net provides the ability to rotate and crop pictures before they are shown on the website. Again, although they are rotated and/or cropped PlantX.net will never modify the original uploaded file. Instead, it keeps temporary pictures with the alterations.

Why is it so important not to modify the original? Every time you modify a picture and save it, you throw away minor details that affect the quality that you can never get back. Storing the original picture means that it can be recalled later and used for printing catalogs or brochures which require the higher resolution for the original photo. If later on you decide to change the way the photo is cropped for a different use, you always have the original from which to start.

Photo Album

PlantX.net should be your plant photo album to avoid loosing pictures. We permit the storage of pictures up to 3 MB (megabytes) in size, about the average storage required for 6 megapixel cameras. Historically, when our customers wanted to put pictures on their website, they always had problems finding the disk that contained the photos. To avoid loosing your photos, upload them to PlantX.net. You can always download the original when you need it.

Branding

The pictures you take are your own, and you likely want to keep it that way. To avoid others from usurping your pictures by downloading them from your website, your company logo is applied to the picture, effectively branded with your logo or name.

Watermarking

To further protect your pictures, each picture is watermarked before they are published on your website. This is a graphic, similar to your brand, that is lightly blended into the background of the picture. With only a brand on the picture, it is easy to crop off and use the picture, while watermarking on the other hand, shows throughout the entire picture.
